Aerstone Part of Winning Team at DI2E Plugfest Competition
ROCKVILLE, Maryland — June 3, 2016 —Aerstone participated as part of the winning team competing in the 2016 DI2E Plugfest. The DI2E Plugfest is the annual demonstration of advancements in the DI2E featuring DI2E Programs of Record, COCOMS and Agencies, Intelligence Investment Fund, 43 displays, dozens of demonstrations, talks from senior leadership, 4 mashup challenge teams, hundreds of attendees. The winning team, comprised of Aerstone, Booz Allen Hamilton, SDL Government, Basis Technology, MarkLogic, Integral Mind, Splunk, and others, was awarded the top prize at the DI2E Plugfest Mashup Challenge.
Each team member made their web services available in an effort to create a demonstration that showcases the orchestration of API services. The final solution was a creation of a mobile app that will allow users to take a picture of a foreign document with their cell phone and provide text analysis and English translation back to the user.
Aerstone made its SIFT™ solution available as a microservice for this effort. Aerstone SIFT™ provided a REST endpoint that received images containing text, and responded back with text extracted from the images using the software’s advanced OCR capabilities. The SIFT™ service has zero human involvement; it rotates the received image in order for it to be horizontally aligned, and supports multiple languages. The SIFT™ output was then passed onto other text analysis and translation microservices.
